The Portland State Aerospace Society (PSAS) is a student and industry group at Portland State University in Oregon, whose vision is to do the engineering required to put a nano-satellite into orbit on an actively guided amateur rocket. This involves work on:
- reusable modular airframes
- solid rocket motor construction (N and O)
- hybrid LOX/paraffin motor prototypes
- amplified 802.11 telemetry
- construction of cylindrical patch antennas and helical directional antennas
- distributed systems design, using a Linux flight computer and ARM sensory nodes
- GPL-GPS, custom GPS firmware with integrated intertial measurement
The group has been in existence since 1998, and we are currently rebuilding our rocket after a crash in August 2005.
